Everything I do is inspired by weather.

A mid-western girl at heart I was born in Dayton, OH and grew up there for the first 10 years of my life.  I blame living on the fringe of Tornado Alley as the reason why I fell in love with big springtime storms. Even after moving to the Washington D.C. area my love for weather did not wain, and I attended Virginia Tech where I pursued a degree in Geography with an emphasis in geospatial technologies and meteorology.

In five years at Virginia Tech I received a B.A and M.S. in Geography while working at the Blacksburg National Weather Service office and traveling to the Great Plains each spring with the Hokie Storm Chasers. Currently I am an adjunct instructor of meteorology and geography for Northern Virginia Community College.  In teaching the lectures and the labs, my goal is to help students understand the fundamentals of meteorology and learn to appreciate the science and aesthetics of meteorology.

I am also a meteorologist and contributor for the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang and US Tornadoes.
